FATHER IN HEAVEN

F

A lie to my daughter

I have always had many things to say, but not this time

I have had answers to all her questions, but today I didn’t

I stood numb in front of my daughter, doing as much as I could to avoid her sight

Her question echoing through every fabric of my soul

And so I walked away from her without a word

Resigning to my room in utter destitute

First my lips fail me, now my eyes.

“Where is daddy,  mummy?” “Why did he leave us?”

Words going round and round through my head

I knew I had to face this someday;  I knew this time would come

Yet never in hell’s years did I ever think that it would sting so sharp

Like Arya’s needle deep down my heart

So I cried and cried my eyes to death

And after I was done, I picked myself up; and called out for her

Daddy is in heaven daughter: he left just after you were born

I don’t think he will ever come back to us love: we got nothing to offer him

He is dining with the angels, smiling at you when you go to sleep

He walks with you dear child, guiding you in everything that you do

He loves you so much; that much I know

And in every beautiful moment in your life,

Or in the darkest parts of you life

Know my child that he walks with you
